Response of bone marrow to MC29 avian leukosis virus in vitro.

چکیده
Infection of avian bone marrow with strain MC29 leukosis virus in vitro resulted in infection, elaboration of virus, and growth of characteristic cells. Newly liberated virus with the infectious and neutralization properties of strain MC29 agent and growth of the cells were demonstrable 48 hr and 5-6 days respectively after infection. Studies by light and electron microscopy revealed similarities between the bone marrow cells and the myeloid elements (myelocytes) of myelocytomatosis notable in the relatively low nucleus/cytoplasm ratio; very large nucleolus; and ribosome-rich cytoplasm with a dense gray (protein) matrix and a grainy or "ground glass"

متن کاملRenal neoplastic response to leukosis virus strains BAI A (avian myeloblastosis virus) and MC29.
Previous reports described the induction of avian renal neoplasms by leukosis virus strains BAI A [avian myeloblastosis virus (AMV)] and MC29, and illustrated morphological characteristics of the tumors. Continued studies in this work confirm evidence of the origin of the tumors from embryonal cells residual in the posthatched chick. The work further emphasizes differences in histopathology of ...
متن کاملIn vitro chick embryo cell response to strain MC29 avian leukosis virus.
Strain MC29 avian leukosis (myelocytomatosis) virus induced infection, elaboration of virus, and morphological alteration in chick embryo cells in vitro. Virus liberation began within 18 hr, morphological change was detectable at about 40 hr, and the cultures could be completely altered within 80 hr after infection. Altered cells were about half the volume and grew at approximately twice the ra...
متن کاملIsolation of a transplantable cell line induced by the MC29 avian leukosis virus.
A transplantable cell line was isolated from a liver tumor induced by the MC29 strain of avian leukosis virus. It was found that its ability to develop into a tumor when inoculated in recipient birds (both intramuscularly and in the wing web) was dependent on a morphological alteration which took place after the cells had been in culture for some time. The transplantable cell exhibited unusual ...
متن کاملAvian Leukosis Virus
Ultrastructural studies of chick embryo cells morphological ly altered by strain MC29 avian leukosis virus revealed marked and characteristic differences from normal cells and cells al tered by infection with other avian tumor viruses. Such differ ences were manifest in part in the cytoplasm by high content of free ribosomes, poorly developed rough endoplasmic reticu lum, frequent fat droplets,...
